And like the autobiography, it only captures dimensional fragments of the man despite its presentation as a portrait of the master songwriter. Mixed with prose passages read by Will Geer (Granpa Walton to fans of the TV show), it is a great collection of old folk songs and songs written by Guthrie, some from his children's album, some from the Dust Bowl Ballads, some from the Columbia River project and two WWII influenced. I love this album. You might want to sample first. To the uninitiated Guthrie's voice might require listener adjustments.
