Alasdair Roberts

Alasdair Roberts

Because Scottish folk guitarist and singer Alasdair Roberts records for the eclectic Chicago-based independent label Drag City, he has amassed an audience unlike that of most artists who perform music of similar heritage. It’s also meant that Roberts often makes artistic choices more progressive than other practitioners. He writes his own songs and invites an unusual variety of musicians to accompany him. For his eighth studio album, Roberts adds tin whistle player Donald Lindsay and clarinetist Alex South where appropriate, while songs like "Hurricane Brown” and “The Mossy Shrine” invent their own worlds where tradition and imagination thrive.
