Album Review

Arkansan alternative rockers Be relocated to Dallas to finish recording Thistupidream, the follow-up to their debut album, Avalanche. Their brand of alternative guitar rock keeps the pulse light and moody, with splashes of lush rhythm guitar crunch added for tonal color. "On the Last Day I Was Happy" is a good example of the general approach: strong on melody with a decided millennial Brit-pop sensibility. The pose is more languid than aggressive, honing in on dreamy, introspective lyrics — although at times the band shows they are capable of rocking out. For a homemade album, Thistupidream sounds remarkable and demonstrated that Be was poised to make a grab at mainstream recognition.

Customer Reviews

One of my all-time favorite CDs!

This is the best home recording I've ever heard. The songs take you through a range of emotions. Some are rocking while others are quiet and introspective. They definitely stay with you. Usually I have to replay the disc as soon as it's over. Try their previous CD, Avalanche, too. If you can find any of their earlier releases, buy them.
