Dirty Water- The Very Best of the Inmates

This is old school Rock and Roll from one of the UK's great, unsung bands. With a hard hitting back beat and standout vocals, The Inmates are as relevant today as when I first saw them open for Joe Jackson at the Capital Theater in Passiac, NJ in 1981. A great cover of the Standells Dirty Water, rockabilly flair and guitar bombs on Love Got Me, Mr. Unreliable and The Walk. Buy this and then seek out their first album, First Offense and sample some of their great Beatles covers. I'll see you futher on up the road!

a great lost band

Have to agree with the Boss (?) on this one. This pretty much catches their first two, fine albums and then some. They're tight, full of hooks and will get you out of your bar stool. And the lead singer sounds like he was nursed on boilermakers.

This cd makes me very happy

Bruce is right(I think it's actually him). Our band(Nashville P*ssy) was on the same label as these guys 10 years ago. The first 2 lps sound so good. The covers they did are better than the originals. The singer sounds like mid 60's Jagger with healthier lungs. Peter Gunn is an amazing guitar player. These songs remind me of being a teenager back in Kentucky, riding around and chasing girls. Good times. Great music!

Their adaptation of ‘Dirty Water’, a garage-band classic originally recorded by the Standells, led to the Inmates’ debut album. In common with several similarly styled groups, the quintet was unable to transfer their live excitement onto record, and despite other promising collections,...
