iTunes Review

The electro-pop duo’s third LP is rooted in heartbreak. Inspired in part by the loss of band member Sarah Barthel’s sister, Three is decidedly heavy—from its sonics to its subject matter. While “Funeral Pyre” finds Josh Carter snake an elegant guitar line through tar-like production, the thunderous “Run Run Blood” sees Barthel ask a pressing question: “Does anybody need to breathe?”

They are back. This song is bangin! September 16th is a long ways away to wait for the rest!!!

Nevermind the barking dog...

Nobody does it quite like Phantogram. I turn to their music for comfort and catharsis in times of emotional turmoil, and they never disappoint. Phantogram's music has always been brooding and melancholy, but Three is an especially heavy album. It features some of their strongest work to date, with tracks like Funeral Pyre, Cruel World, and Barking Dog. It is clear that lots of raw emotion went into the making of this album. Sarah and Josh--thank you for sharing such vulnerable parts of yourselves with the world. Thank you for taking your pain and channeling it into a creation that others can find enjoyment and solace in. You are beautiful souls and your music touches lives. Keep doing what you do.

Wake up

I'm not sure why some procliamed "fans" of Phantogram have rated this album so low. Bands change their sound all the time.I call it progress. I get the feeling that the ones that don't like this album should just replay Eyelid Movies and be content. if you're uncomfortable with change, then ignore the future and just listen to what you already have. This album is among their best, no doubt. To the ones that say their sound changed between albums; play all their albums on shuffle. Then wake up. They all sound the same. The same awesome band they've always been.
