Unbelievable

For ten bucks, this is a steal. Perhaps the greatest live album by any band ever. The entire Scenes From A Memory album live (played perfectly I might add), the whole 'A Mind Beside Itself' suite, Learning to Live, AND A Change of Seasons as well as plenty of other songs in one live release for just 9.99? Hell, sign me up! In all honesty, I have to say that I have been listening to bands such as Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Rush, ELP, and Jethro Tull for many years and have attended many concerts. I only discovered Dream Theater a few months ago, and I already own all of their studio and live releases. After hearing all this outstanding music, I have to say Live Scenes From New York is the cream of the crop. The setlist is as close to perfect as you will get with this band. I have also never seen iTunes be so generous price-wise. You're getting 25 songs (over 3 hours of live music) for just 9.99! If you are even a casual DT fan, buy this, you will not regret it!

absolute masterpiece

Dream Theater has released flawless studio albums, but it is in a live setting that the band is at its peak. These guys are performers in every sense of the word. The 'Scenes From a Memory' set puts this collection up there with Queensryche's 'Operation: Livecrime'. From 'One Last Time', through 'Metropolis, pt. 1', these guys end the first set perfectly. 'Acid Rain' is a wonderful nod to the LTE project. It's always wonderful to hear 'Another Day', especially with Jay Beckenstein on sax. 'Learning To Live' has always been one of my favorite DT tracks. I actually managed to get one of the original covers about 2 or 3 days after 9/11. In light of the tragic coincidence, I find it is actually a very somber reminder of what was lost that day. DT love New York, love performing, and it shows here.
