Every once in a great while we come across songwriters that have the extraordinary gift of conveying great complexity of emotion with a minimalist approach to their lyrics, such is the case with this fine album from Cam Penner. Superb production with the small 'sounds' lurking just below the surface and pushing the melody forward, driving the anxiety and anticipation. I rarely want songs to be longer but found myself begging for more, seeking a greater resolution for the inhabitants of these ballads.
Gypsy Summer - Lyrical, heartfelt and totally honest
Listen to Driftwood. Gypsy Women. Throw Your Hands Up. Call it Rock or Country, whatever this is one man's music the way he likes it. He sings his stories, moods and attitude. No fancy production or orchestration. Words like "refreshing, soulful and aware" will apply as you listen and hear this young man. There's more than ten bucks worth of life here!
