Album Review

Another highly charged trance mix from one of electronic/club music's leading lights, Universal Religion 2008 continues Armin Van Buuren's run of successful mix sets. Released at the tail-end of 2007, the legendary DJ and producer brings together tracks by such artists as Dubfire, Mungo, and Terk Dawn into a near seamless time capsule of the best that the world's leading clubs have to offer.

TRANCE IS NOT DEAD.

This album qualifies that statement. It rocks, and shows why Armin is #1. And a message to the tards who don’t understand anything about electronic music, but like to leave their poorly spelled, 3rd grade grammar comments anyway. You’re in the wrong place...you challenged folks are looking for “rap”—that’s right, “r-a-p". Back up and try clicking on the shiny pictures, or if you need help, go ask an adult.

Undoubted Album of the Year

A hardcore Tiesto fan, but a sucker for most euphoric trance with an anthemy feel to it, Armin has unquestionably released thte most consistent album to date. I was head over heels with ISOS 6 but the genius of this assortment is evident as one listens to it again and again. It seems that every song was meant to be played after the previous and it all begins with Another Day On the Terrace, the opener to Sunlounger's (DJ Shah) latest album. Beautifully transitioned to another hit by Dash Berlin, Till the sky falls down sets the pace for the rest of the album and gives way to a harder and preppier invincible which grows on you the more you listen to it. Roadkill provides the sudden change needed and continues to build on the euphoric wave that the compilation has picked up by now. The highlight is definitely summer blush which brings back strong memories of Armin's remix of racoon's love you more. after the impressive lifecycle, armin plays it safe with john o callaghan and chips in with his own 'if you should go' before ending with the popular quicksand and a bit of ronski speed. the correlation between most of these tracks and tiesto's clublife radio show is apparent but one can understand armin's need to use these tracks while performing at armada. definitely an album for the ages.

Finally

It sounds like house music is going back to its roots. I haven’t bought an album of this genre for about 3 years due to the annoying tracks. It's not so much the dj's but the producers. This album sounds a lot like the ministry of sounds millennium annual. This is a awesome cd start to finish. Takes me right back to 1999, or what I remember of it ;-)
