Album Review

This is what pop-punk should be. Catchy as all hell, with plenty of hooks and vocal harmonies, delivered at an onrushing pace, and done before you get sick of it and stomp on the record like so many Fat Wreck releases. After the style was popularized to a mass audience in the mid-'90s, it was further diluted by a bunch of folks aping NOFX and a few others. Fat Mike-style geeky vocals went increasingly more nasal with "singers" copying Billie Joe Armstrong and Tom DeLonge. Still, despite what most Fat Wreck samplers convince you of, the genre is not a complete throwaway. Capture the Flag's album is evidence of that. Melody in abundance, with vocals falling somewhere between DeLonge and Greg Graffin. Standard lyrical themes, but what did you expect? This is pop-punk after all. And one of the best things about the album is that it does not overstay its welcome; right as one begins to think, "Shouldn't this be over yet?," it finishes.

Pop punk without the annoying voice

These guys rule, they sound like Lifetime, and Bigwig. Very catchy lyrics and guitar licks. The lead singer/guitarist is an amazing front man, VERY SICK at guitar. This is their first and best cd. I've seen these guys live twice, once at the Old Store in Palmer, Ma and once with Big D, The Grand Prixx, The Sellouts, and Step Lively, in Wilbraham, MA. That show was memroable because we had a Ccircle pit and a kid threw up.
