Great Album!

I remember when this album was originally released on vinyl, somewhere in the early 70's. I thought it was awesome and these guys were the successors to Simon and Garfunkle. I wore the grooves out of my copy. They were popular in the NY/Philly area. I moved to CA, turned some friends out there on to them. Anyone I ever played the album for loved it. I was so dissappointed when they didn't follow up with more albums. For years I tried to find another copy of the album but couldn't. Then I discoved them on iTunes. You gotta love technology! Does anyone know whatever happened to them?

Excellent collection from overlooked singers/songwriters

I still have my vinyl of Moondog Serenade, Lifesong and A Song or Two. I listened to these guys constantly in the 70's and ever after. They produced for Jim Croce and others, and I am still amazed that they never hit it big nationally. To this day, I am still the only person I know that has heard their music. That is a shame, because they wrote and sang beautifully. How could Bread and other soft-pop bands become so well-known and Cashman and West stay almost invisible? It is hard to pick favorites, but American City Suite, The Girls Next Door, Three Stones From the Sun and Lifesong are stellar songs. Also, they do the best cover I have ever heard of Michael Peter Smith's "The Dutchman" (even better than Steve Goodman, one of my heroes!). Take a look at the other "best of" collection on iTunes (AM-FM Blues), because it has some terrific songs that this collection does not have, including Medicine Man (which WAS a top 40 hit), recorded as The Buchanan Brothers.

Though best known for producing the classic hits of singer/songwriter Jim Croce, the team of Terry Cashman and Tommy West also enjoyed successful performing and composing careers in their own right. Cashman was born Dennis Minogue in New York City on July 5, 1941; while playing minor league baseball in the Detroit Tigers' farm system during the late 1950s, he simultaneously fronted the Chevrons, scoring a handful of minor pop hits and even appearing on American Bandstand. However, as both his baseball...
