Sublime swinging!!!

Per Danielsson exhibits the kind of taste, technique and time that exemplifies the BEST of jazz piano. His original tunes, while sophisticated, are incredibly memorable. The trio really swings together: Marty Morrell is, of course, a legendary drummer; he was Bill Evans' longtime cohort. Morrell's tribute to Evans, "Song for Bill," should be a jazz standard.
Bassist Richard Drexler truly holds down the bottom, and solos smartly. These three must play together constantly: They're a cohesive unit...
Per's re-arrangements of standards are a kick: He makes "Yesterday's Gardenias" sound fresh; he does "Here's That Rainy Day" as a jazz waltz; Brubeck's "In Your Own Sweet Way" really cooks, with a superb Morrell solo over a vamp; and he swings "Old Folks!"
This is an album any jazz listener will enjoy --- AND, unlike so many other piano trio albums, TIME WILL TELL is recorded impeccably!
