Timeline

Lomstradamus

It’s been twenty years since pianist Chris Lomheim recorded his first trio cd of all original compositions “And You’ve Been Waiting?” in 1994. His second release “The Bridge” (2002) featured a mix of standards and original compositions. Now the wait is over, with his new album "Chris Lomheim Timeline" featuring ten new Lomheim originals backed by trio mates Gordy Johnson bass and Jay Epstein drums.
"Timeline," shows how Lomheim may well shine brightest in the classic trio setting.
While some trios might use a percussive approach or build on opening themes with frenetic activity, Lomheim and is bandmates start with strong melodies. They color them with alluring chord changes and inventive solos. “Timeline" is a must addition for trio collectors who love the piano styles of Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett and John Taylor.

Cheerful and enjoyable instrumental jazz from my favorite Twin Cities pianist. Don't miss the other two albums!
