Editors’ Notes

Immediacy is the keynote of 33Miles’ Today. Lead singer Jason Barton continues to stand out among his peers by virtue of his strong, assertive vocals, capable of delivering both anthemic upbeat tunes and more subdued, confessional ballads. Partner Chris Lockwood more than holds up his end by applying a full array of acoustic and electric guitar textures to the tracks. The brightly acoustic, ultra-catchy “What Grace Looks Like” and the simmering groove of “Where I Wanna Go” are infused with an optimistic spirit. While these tracks betray a country influence, other tunes like “Hold Me Up” (a soaring plea for salvation) and “Underneath” (an acknowledgement of human weakness riding a techno-rock beat) lean towards contemporary rock sounds. A Britpop feel can be detected in the moody, piano-centered “Calling My Name.” Whatever the arrangement approach, 33Miles keeps its lyric focus upon words of praise and healing. Sonically, Today is aimed at the tastes of the moment, but the album’s message is timeless in content.

Customer Reviews

33 miles has done it again!

Wow...33 Miles' second album was way better than the first and this album is way better than the second. I love it! 33 Miles does such a great job, and with losing Collin, I wondered how they would do. But I was not disappointed, and I HIGHLY recommend!!!

So strong!

I guess it is possible to top their second album! Jason's vocals are unbelievable and Chris keeps on ripping it. These songs speak so deeply to the heart of The Fathers provision in our lives and how He meets our needs no matter what the circumstances. He is so good and 33 expresses that so well. Hold Me Up, Where I Wanna Go, and Live are the best songs, but they all make me raise my hands and stomp my feet! Praise you, Jesus!

AMAZING!

I really didn't think their album could get any better than the last one, but they definently proved me wrong! I LOVE it!! Hold Me Up is probably my favorite, but I'd recommend any of the songs!

Their next album, 2008's One Life, proved to be the record that broke them big, landing...
