Not what I was expecting

After hearing the songs on their myspace, this record was not at all what I expected. It's not bad but I'm a little disappointed. The band has great potential to be the next great pop/rock group and the songs where they focus on that genre are far and away the best. DEVASTATED and BREAK THROUGH are hands down the best tracks. The only chance of this band achieving mainstream success is to have these be the next two singles. Do it For You, Fall and Closer are also pretty good because the band sticks to what they do best, pop/rock. The songs where they try to be a Euro Techno/Funk band fail miserably. The main guy sounds like a second rate Prince who is trying too hard and it doesn't ring true. His vocals drown out the rest and it ruins what could be really nice three part harmonies. Birthday is especially ruined with that guy screaching in the background tracks, but sounds better on live versions I've heard on youtube. I thought She was the One would be one of my favorites based on the live versions I've heard, but it was ruined by the mixing and production too. Overall, I think the production failed this band in many ways. But they do have potential if they work with other producers who will tone down the massive over doing of everything. They actually sound great live when the vocals and instruments are in a normal balance and they're not so horrifically over produced. Stop trying to be Prince or Michael Jackson and be what you are - a very good pop group. Luckily they have Devastated and Break Through which will be very big hits on radio and can carry them through until their next album, where they can refine their sound and stick with what they're good at.

This album is absolutely AMAZING. The songs are catchy, danceable, and the BEST way to spend your money!

A Great First Album!

This is a great first album by the Ballas Hough Band. Their first single Do It For You was great. The album is filled with nice tracks. My favorite songs are Do You Love Me, Devastated, Closer, Longing For, and Do It For You. You won't be disappointed with this album.
