iTunes Editors’ Notes

Aside from his main bread and butter, Linkin Park’s frontman Chester Bennington also performs with Julien-K, an electro synth-pop act, so Dead By Sunrise is Bennington’s third main project (though when it started in 2005 the band then bore the moniker Snow White Tan). Along with Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck from Julien-K (both guys also hail from the band Orgy and help import some synthy atmospherics here), Dead By Sunrise’s debut album Out of Ashes births dark and moody guitar-driven hard rock that couldn’t be explored in Bennington’s other outfits. The aptly titled “Fire” opens with scorching gusto as Bennington’s searing vocals burn through the ascending chorus like a jet breaking the sonic barrier. “Crawl Back In” is a powerful rocker loaded with the kind of razor-barbed hooks and soaring harmonies that are capable of laying melodious eggs in your brain — choosing this infectious tune as the album’s lead single was a no-brainer. The similarly catchy “My Suffering” sounds like it was created to accompany the flicking of dyed-black bangs from the eyes of misunderstood teens worldwide.

Good but sad

that this album sounded more like a linkin park album then linkin parks last one

Amazing in Every Way!

It looks like all those years spent writing and recording this album were well worth the wait! This album rocks in every way imaginable that it's hard to categorize it under one genre. There is so much varriety in this record, from calm ballads, to alternative rock jams, to even a punk influenced song. Heck there's even something that sounds like speed metal.
The instrumentalization is amazing as well, the guitars usually don't play too complicated stuff, but there are some sweet licks and solos in there. Keyboards add to the deepness of the tracks as well. The drums are really dope as well, the drummer did a swell job with the drums!
And of course the main point of the album is hearing Chester Bennington's vocals. His vocals are amazing on every track, from death metal screams, to really smooth beautiful harmonies, this man's voice does it all!
If you think this is another Linkin Park record, think again. It may be the same vocalist, but the style is different and awesome indeed. You can hear how much Chester has evolved & matured musically since Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory.
In the end I believe this album is worth the money, personally I'm a fan of Chester's work, so I'm delighted that this finally came out, but listen to it and rate it yourselves!!
Happy Rocking!

DEAD BY SUNRISE IS AWESOME!!!!!

Dead By Sunrise is freaking awesome. I hope Chester continues with Dead By Sunrise to make more albums. Congrats to Chester and the rest of Dead By Sunrise on Out of Ashes, you are my #2 band... #1 being Linkin Park.

Biography

Formed: Los Angeles, CA

Looking for an outlet for some of his darker and moodier material written during the recording of Minutes to Midnight, Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington created Dead by Sunrise in 2005 as a way to explore different creative avenues. Recruiting Amir Derakh, Ryan Shuck, Brandon Belsky, and Elias Andra (whom Bennington had been previously worked with as a part of the production team/synth pop band Julien-K) as well as Anthony "Fu" Valcic, Bennington shied away from Linkin Park's nu-metal and Julien-K's...
