Editors’ Notes

When an act can fill an entire anthology with nothing but No. 1 singles, you're talking about some serious staying power. In the case of The Bee Gees, studying their biggest chart successes is an intriguing way to track the trio's artistic evolution. On their '60s smashes, the Gibb brothers married their flair for fetching pop hooks with a lyrical sensibility that could turn dark, and on such tunes as "I Started a Joke" and "I've Gotta Get a Message to You," things get downright macabre, making for some simultaneously lilting and unsettling hit singles. In the '70s, they started amping up the R&B influence with the likes of "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" and "Jive Talkin'" before emerging as definitive disco kings with "Stayin' Alive," "Night Fever," et al. Later, gilded, synth-soaked production pushed "You Win Again" to the charts' upper rungs. Here, bonus tracks include the group's own versions of No. 1 hits they wrote for others: "Islands in the Stream" (made famous by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton) and "Immortality," best known via Celine Dion.

Love

I'm 15 and I love them

One of the best groups ever

The Bee Gees are truly one of the greatest singing groups of all time. Michael Jackson himself adored them. These men believed in melody, harmony, and a great beat - something that so many singing "artists" today have no concept about whatsoever. Robin Gibb once said that they (the Bee Gees) tried to write and sing for the future, not just for the immediate present. They imagined tunes and lyrics that people would appreciate for decades, not just the latest fad. Well, this approach sure shows in their work. The music of the Bee Gees is timeless and will never go out of style, because it is music you can sing along with - music that you want to hum after you turn it off. Melodic gems like Jive Talkin, How Deep is Your Love, You Win Again, and Man in the Middle are not to be missed. Long live the Bee Gees.

Bee Gee's at their finest

If you want the hits this is the collection for you. This is a fantastic span of all their hits from one of my fav. groups of all time.
