finally something new from Blake

too small to fail and Vampire Lessons are the standout tracks. Reminds me of 24hr revenge therapy era blake. the recording is raw. Whoever mixed these recordings could've done a better job. Some vocals drop out here and there but whatever. I'm just stoked to here Blakes voice and his highly underrated guitar playing again. Nothing else like it.

A continuation of jawbreaker

Im a big Jets to Brazil fan, and an even bigger Jawbreaker fan. I really expected this to be a continuation in Blake's evolution but was completely taken back to find my self listening to something that would have fit perfectly into 24hr revenge therapy. If you find your self thinking your one regret is never seeing jawbreaker in concert, you need this album.

'Bach is Back

Very musically reminiscent of Jawbreaker, but with the advanced lyrical deftness of Jets to Brazil.

These are some of the best songs Blake Schwarzenbach has ever written. In addition, the new band bring a fresh musical perspective for the songwriter. The bass snarls, the drums breathe, the guitar screams. It's a living thing, these Forgetters. Much like Leonard Cohen or Neil Young, Blake's voice has improved with age and taken on a darker, deeper rasp.

The recording itself sounds great - rawer than the "Dear You" studio-shine but much more sophisticated than the "24 Hour Revenge Therapy" or "Bivouac" grittiness. It doesn't really have any sounds that draw comparisons to JTB albums.

The artwork looks incredible, especially in the flesh (buy the 7" too). These are great songs, relevant and moving in 2010 but with a timelessness that will leave them resonating in the collective unconscious for generations.

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Made up of Blake Schwarzenbach (Jawbreaker, Jets to Brazil), Kevin Mahon (Against Me), and Michelle Proffit (who replaced original bassist Caroline Paquita), Forgetters formed up in 2009 after Schwarzenbach's short-lived band, the Thorns of Life dissolved after just a year together. Playing post-hardcore in the classic tradition, the band finds Schwarzenbach returning to the sound he helped pioneer as a member of his other wildly influential bands, melding tension with melody as the band revisits...
