I'll preface the below with the fact that I've never taken the time write a review for an artist before. I use the word "review" loosely because I'm having difficulty finding the words to describe Totem.
I've just arrived back in Italy after a 6 hour drive from Stuttgart. Totem was on endless repeat for the long ride home. The Dolomites, Innsbruck, and her music entwined into something surreal and intangible. Like the landscape, the songs maintained a delicate balance between the need for space and maintaining interest. The greatest parts weren't found in the notes but the spaces between.
It usually takes me any number of months and repeat listens before I make a honest assessment of a new album. After the first half dozen listens, I'm still thinking about it. If anything, it caused me to fire up my Elektron MD and MnM soon as I walked through the door.
An amazing album and sure to keep me company on many more long drives to come.
