Album Review

Issued in 2006, this one-CD/two-DVD set presents the beloved British synth pop act performing live in support of its well-received comeback album, Playing the Angel. While the DVDs feature songs from throughout the band's career, the CD portion of the release presents concert versions of eight songs from Angel only, including the darkly vibrant "Suffer Well" and the melancholy "Precious.", Rovi

Great Live CD (But Get The DVD!)

Depeche Mode has a lot of live CD's and DVD's. But none have the energy like this one. This CD had 8 songs performed from Milan and are from Playing The Angel. Depeche is awesome and my fave song on here live is A Pain That I'm Used To. Second is Sinner In Me.

Playing the Angel Live

Depeche Mode nearly pull another Devotional here by releasing a CD of live performances from their album Playing the Angel along with the release of their amazing Touring the Angel DVD. Few differences: a)The CD comes with the DVD (If you're careful)* and b) The CD does not include all tracks from Playing the Angel like the live version of Songs of Faith and Devotion did. The cd is good if you just can't wait to listen to the awesomeness of the band on your way home from the store. The performances themselves are amazing and demand to be played with the volume at 11. You will be amazed. *Look for the dvd/cd in the cd section of the store. If you look in the dvd section, you will find the release that does not include the cd...I almost made this mistake.

Somewhat Disappointed...

I bought the expensive version with the 2 DVDs and a CD and the CD was OK. This entire release would have been 4 or 5 stars in my opinion if the entire show or most of it (instead of EIGHT SONGS) was on the CD.

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Originally a product of Britain's new romantic movement, Depeche Mode went on to become the quintessential electropop band of the 1980s. One of the first acts to establish a musical identity based completely around the use of synthesizers, they began their existence as a bouncy dance-pop outfit but gradually developed a darker, more dramatic sound that ultimately positioned them as one of the most successful alternative bands of their era. The roots of Depeche Mode date to 1976, when Basildon, England-based...
