iTunes Review

Vitalic's debut album bridges various French electronic traditions, adopting the hypnotic grind of pioneers like Laurent Garnier and Daft Punk while paving the way for fist-pumpers like the Ed Banger crew. But he also displays a global perspective: "La Rock 01" is bare-knuckled techno with a sleek Teutonic flourish, and "The Past" mimics Kraftwerk. "My Friend Dario" and "No Fun" tackle New York electroclash, while "Newman" is a rock 'n' roll riot. "Poney Pt. I" condenses all those influences into a potent hybrid of nonstop thrills.

I Love French Electronic Music!!

What makes French electronic music so great? Well, for one thing, it actively synthesizes the big-beats of British electronic with the robotic features of German electronic to fashion its very own style. Whether it's Air, Daft Punk, or Justice, French electronic truly has it all. And Vitalic certainly fits right into the thick of this burgeoning genre. Pascal Arbez, the driving force behind Vitalic, has done a terrific job here with his debut album. The sheer melodic quality of his beat drops is awe-inspiring. Whereas some songs are strictly instrumental, others contain a drone-like female voice that merely adds to the flavor of Vitalic's style. Ultimately, Vitalic must be included on the list of any fan that enjoys the genre of electronic music.

#11 is worth it

No other track quite captures the cinematic quality that #11, "Trahison" does. Not sure if the rest of the album is worth buying, but that track is definitely awesome.

Cool Find! Recommended.

This is a pretty good album for those who enjoy dance music! I found this artist by chance and I'm glad I did. Lots of different songs and stylings can be found here. Favorites tracks: Trahison, Polkamatic, My Friend Dario, Valletta Fanfares, U and I, and lastly Poney Pt 1.

Genre: Dance

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Vitalic is the alter ego of Pascal Arbez, a French programmer/multi-instrumentalist who blends electro, techno, and house -- as well as elements of classical, rock, Italo-disco, and '70s electronic music -- into a sound that recalls the work of fellow countrymen Daft Punk and Air, but has its own hard-edged playfulness. Arbez played trombone as a child and young adult, but became fascinated with dance music when he heard Daft Punk in the mid-'90s. Inspired by them as well as Giorgio Moroder, Arbez...
