On their sixth album, Düsseldorf's techno-pop pioneers streamlined the sprawl of their early records into the sleek electronic pulses and pinging melodies that would become their trademark. The title track is a stone classic, and not just because Afrika Bambaataa sampled it in "Planet Rock." Exuding effortless cool, the album's chugging rhythms and vocoder flourishes will have you doing the robot, while "Franz Schubert" is a twinkling ambient lullaby that'll charm kids from one to 92.

Past, Present and Future

Kraftwerk have been the most influential group in the electronic music ever. It is amazing to note that compositions like these were recorded… 40 years ago! They were the first to convince us that electronic rhythms would have heart and soul within. It deserves the price you are going to pay for it.
