WOW...JUST WOW.

I first ran into Prototype on Tony Hawk's Underground, and their song on it, Synthespian, was absolutely miles above every other song on there. A few years later, I discovered The Way It Ends thanks to Guitar Hero 3, and from then on realized that these guys seriouly can play. Eventually, I decided to check out this album to see what it was like as a whole, and boy was I blown away. The ones I already knew were still spectacular, but I learned to look at this band with new eyes with the other 9 songs. Prototype has a very unique ability to pen amazing works of music and keep it interesting all throughout. Devotion and With Vision are very well written semi-ballads that always go seamlessly from beautiful passages into fierce chugging and soloing. Meanwhile, other standouts such as Transcendent Velocity and Heart Machine are liable to blow you away with their fast-paced onslaught of killer riffs and melodious soloing. The only song I don't really care for is Probe, but thankfully it is very short. I cannot believe this band does not have a much larger fan base or popularity. I hope these guys become more well known, because if they release good stuff like this from here on out, they will no doubt be the next Dream Theater. P.S. If you think the singer's voice is not the best, then how about you try singing that while strumming a guitar at a million miles an hour!

Great technical progressive metal!

Outstanding guitar, bass, drums, and vocals...this is a great technical progressive metal album. Some of my favorite tracks are "The Way It Ends," "Devotion," and "Sea of Tranquility." Well worth checking out!

fantastic!

This band is just amazing. The vocals are outstanding. The drums are great. Their heavy riffs in 'The Way It Ends' are mind blowing. The lead and rhythm guitarists are incredibly in sync. and how they can transition to soft, meliodic passages into heavy, thrashing riffs such as in 'Devotion' and 'Pure' (from their album, 'Trinity' which needs to get up here!) and then mixing them, such as in 'Synthespan' is just awesome. The solos are fast and very satisfying. This band is definitely up there with my favorites. I am surprised they don't have a bigger fan base, these guys are just so great and talented. I would definitely want to see them on tour. 5 stars all the way.
