iTunes Review

Having written emotional tunes for artists like Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, and Darius Rucker (not to mention fronting the GRAMMY®-nominated bluegrass band the SteelDrivers), Chris Stapleton steps into his own. Despite its dusky presentation and Stapleton’s formidable beard, Traveller isn’t just an outlaw record, but a master class in country bittersweetness— from the waltz-time nostalgia of “More of You” to the blistering “Might as Well Get Stoned,” which sounds as though it took its own advice. As for Stapleton’s earthy, unvarnished voice, well, he might be a writer, but he certainly doesn’t sing like one.

Realer than real

Im literally speechless even after hearing just one song... This album brings modern country music back to the good ole days with Waylon, Johnny, June, Patsy, and all other classic back in the day country singers. This album displays what country music was always meant to be: not some pop singer that woke up one day and said "oh I'll sing country music today!" This album is as real as it gets guys. Seriously.

The Album of Dying Llamas

This being walking the earth at this moment has the worst voice I ever heard. This is a pathetic excuse for “music.” Please, reconsider your life and stay away… XO

I’ve been too bogged down in my depression over the state of country music - too many Sam Hunts, FL/GA Lines, Brantley Gilberts when I turn on the radio. It took me until the CMAs tonight to discover Chris Stapleton and let me tell you, my faith in country music has been restored. This guy is the real deal & I love the entire record.

Chris Stapleton appeared to be one of those storybook overnight sensations: a troubadour who came out of nowhere to become a major star in the autumn of 2015 on the strength of his debut album Traveller. Like most overnight sensations, Stapleton had a long, hard road behind him. He had been laboring behind in the scenes in Nashville for years, leading the progressive bluegrass group the SteelDrivers and working as a professional songwriter, scoring hits with George Strait ("Love's Gonna Make It Alright"),...
