iTunes Review

American Idol contestant Allison Iraheta's debut album Just Like You shows hints of where this talented vocalist is likely headed as she matures and develops her own style. “Friday I’ll Be Over U” opens with heaps of Kelly Clarkson’s tough girl spunk under layers of distorted synthesizers and hip dance beats. And if the brooding rocker “No One Else” sounds somewhat reminiscent of Pink, that’s because Pink actually had a hand in writing it. While Iraheta recorded Just Like You at 17, her muscular sounding voice reveals a mature soul that’s overflowing with personality. She also likes to rock — American Idol devotees may remember her ambitiously taking on Foghat’s “Slow Ride” and Heart’s “Baricuda” — but here her love for the classics reveals itself on “Robot Love” where she dares to boast a prominent Gary Glitter sample from “Rock and Roll (Part 2)” and the soulful “Scars” sounds influenced by Bonnie Raitt.

Absolutely Incredible!

I have to say, this is one of the best albums from an American Idol EVER! Many people have been comparing her to Kelly Clarkson, and I agree! She is going to be HUGE as or maybe even bigger than Kelly! Her vocals are so powerful and she is only 17! Her voice is going to become better and better! The songs on this ablum as just genius too! My favorites are "Robot Love" and "Beat Me Up!" They are so upbeat and fun! "Just Like You" is also an amazing song as well as "You Don't Know Me," which she co-wrote. This is an amazing debut album and everything that will be heard from her is bound to be amazing.

...singer of the century!!!

Album of the year, singer of the century!! Seriously, this girl can sing!!! Check out TROUBLE IS, it is AMAZING!!!

best so far!

I'm not an Allison fan but I'm so impressed with her raw, husky voice. Tracks that I like are "Still Breathing," "Trouble Is," "No One Else," "You Don't Know Me," "Don't Wanna Be Wrong." She reminds me of Kelly Clarkson and Pink, but she's all her own. I think she'll do better than the top 2 idols. She sounds better on record, that's for sure. I don't know how she'll sound as she grows older, but she's very current, very refreshing, very contagious. I like the beat of "Friday I'll Be Over You," but I must say her best track, the track that does her justice is "Scars." This proves that Allison deserves to be where she is now.

Boasting mature, rock-influenced vocals that belied her young age, 17 year-old Allison Iraheta became the most popular female in American Idol's 2009 season. The daughter of Salvadorian parents, she logged numerous performances in the Latino community before her multi-month run on Idol, even winning a bilingual singing competition on the Telemundo network in 2006. American Idol proved to be her launching pad, however, as she finished in fourth place behind contenders Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert, and...
