Album Review

Fisher is perhaps best know as being one of the first groups to successfully use the internet to market their music. The duo, composed of Rob Wasserman and wife Kathy Fisher, posted a few songs on their website. From there, one of their tracks made its way onto the Great Expectations movie soundtrack, and the duet was the only unsigned band to play at Lilith Fair. Listening to their debut, True North, it's easy to see how Fisher managed to stand out among the countless other groups posting their music online. Fisher and Wasserman are accomplished songwriters, and their single, "I Will Love You," is a surprisingly powerful ballad, filled with sweetness and regret. Tracks like "Breakable" and "Hello It's Me" prove that this group deserves an audience that goes beyond the Internet and into the mainstream.

Good early work

This album contains some great songs. "I Will Love You" is what introduced me to Fisher. A stirring song that will keep with you. "Miseryland" has received increased play-time. It's perfect for those times when relationships haven't ended well, or a good reminder of how poorly relationships _could_ have ended. "Breakable" was also featured on the "Great Expectations" soundtrack. Kathy has a distinctive voice that lends itself well to these songs. You can tell she means what she sings.

Fisher is sooo cool

one of those great rustic voices with a rock base. You MUST get "Any Way". After that, take your pick! Incredible album. "Miseryland", "Breakable" and "Hello It's Me" are other goodies. Enjoy!!!

Breakable holds a life lesson!

I haven't listened to the whole album - yet - but I have the Great Expectations album that Breakable is on. WOW! EVERY woman in any relationship should listen to this song! If you actually listen to the words you tend to stop & check yourself to make sure that you aren't the woman that she is singing to. Her vocals are so well done - they are there, but aren't in your face. She doesn't feel the need to be "showy" as so many can, but they aren't quite "pure" either. You can hear that she is an actual person who has a great talent! Give it a listen!

The West Virginia modern rock duo that goes by the name Fisher embraces the marketing phenomenon of selling music via the Internet, for the band finally scored a deal due to its heavy push on www.mp3.com. Fisher, which is comprised of singer/songwriter Kathy Fisher and composer/producer and keyboardist Ron Wasserman, first started making music together in the mid-'90s when both were struggling to make a living in the fast-paced life of Los Angeles.
