iTunes Review

Both musically and lyrically, We Are the Broken takes Seventh Day Slumber back to their core essentials. The album’s recurring theme of spiritual awakening goes to the heart of the band’s mission, while the album’s grunge-cum-metal sound brings SDS’s early releases to mind. Though the worship music focus of the quartet’s recent work isn't entirely abandoned, We Are the Broken uses more diverse songwriting approaches to convey its redemptive message. Joseph Rojas again proves his ability to deliver heartfelt confessions and crowd-rousing anthems with a rough yet pleasing edge. “In Too Deep,” “Comatose State,” and the title track offer potent hooks with plenty of muscle without sacrificing melodic content. “All She Wants” (a portrait of a troubled young woman searching for the Light), “Holding On” (a testimony of desperation that blends clean and harsh singing), and “Trust in Me” (a semi-acoustic alter call with a slight country feel) are among the standout ballads. The soul-bearing “Skyscraper”—first recorded by Demi Lovato—complements the band’s original tunes.

Customer Reviews

After a 3 record run of exploring & showcasing the different sides and angles of their gifts, talents & hearts; these guys are back to their roots full-fledged and are not disappointing with this record!

Long time fans are sure to be blown away by hard rocking hooky anthems such as the title track, "We Are the Broken", but you will also be tastefully challenged with offerings like their cover of Lovato's "Skyscraper". Holderfield's guitars are bigger/nastier than ever and Rojas' lyrics are as real and in your face as you would hope they'd be.

Make no mistake about it, these music veterans have just raised the bar and won't be going anywhere for a long time - as long as they continue to put out collections like "We Are the Broken". 5 stars

Should be 6 stars!!

This is their best work yet! Every song is strong and heartfelt. The lyrical content beginning to end is all connected in a beautiful way. The music is hard hitting ROCK with HUGE guitar riffs. If I had to use one word to describe the record?....EPIC!
Buy this record!
