iTunes Editors’ Notes

A staple of classic rock radio playlists from coast to coast, Bog Seger occupies the same "blue-collar heartland rock" wheelhouse as contemporaries like Bruce Springsteen and John Mellencamp. After paying dues in many Detroit bands throughout the '60s and early '70s, he hit the big time with 1976's Night Moves, his ninth album and first with his handpicked Silver Bullet Band (as well as the legendary—and uncredited—Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section). The title track, "Rock and Roll Never Forgets," and "Mainstreet" were all huge hits, setting the stage for a solid decade's worth of classic Seger singles, including "We've Got Tonight," "Like a Rock," "Old Time Rock and Roll," and "Against the Wind." All of those are included here, newly remastered and sounding better than ever, alongside more hard-to-find gems like 1968's "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man," the '80s-era soundtrack selection "Shakedown," and an unreleased cover of Little Richard's "Hey Hey Hey (Going Back to Birmingham)." No frills and no nonsense; this is good old-fashioned feel-good American rock from one of the masters.

Customer Reviews

The absolute best, heartfelt version of 'The Little Drummer Boy'

This is by far my absolute favorite version of ’The Little Drummer Boy’. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band version, to me, is the most heartfelt rendition of the song ever, and always brings tears to my eyes. Absolutely beautiful!

26 Songs for 10 bucks, Wow, mostly hits too!

Good extras accompany most of Seger and the SBB's hits. I am a newer fan to this Classic Rock and now I have all the songs easily and in one place. Good idea and this is what a Greatest Hits should look like.

Originally a hard-driving rocker in the vein of fellow Michigan garage rockers the Rationals and Mitch Ryder, Bob Seger developed into one of the most popular heartland rockers over the course of the '70s. Combining the driving charge of Ryder's Detroit Wheels with Stonesy garage rock and devotion to hard-edged soul and R&B, he crafted a distinctively American sound. While he never attained the critical respect of his contemporary Bruce Springsteen, Seger did develop a dedicated following through...
