This is my dad and his friends album (and I'm NOT kidding) I'm glad you all liked it!

Glad they're back

Well they were "back" with their Christmas album (a must have by the way) but this is another great album. Only thing that would make it better would be more songs!


I seldom use the word artist while describing modern musical acts. Most spend the entirety of their careers chasing either the newest musical dad or trying to recreate the magic of a first album. Smalltown Poets are truly artists. With all due respect to the quality musicians that composed the different variants of the Poets, the original lineup has the chemistry. All having grown in life and musical experiences since their debut, this EP is an album they were destined to make. I've been a fan and a friend for a long time, but Grace is a Song is just a perfectly beautiful piece of art that won't be nearly as popular as it should. But selfishly, I'm just glad it's on my playlist.

The alternative CCM group Smalltown Poets was formed in Tifton, GA. by singer/guitarist Michael Johnston, keyboardist Danny Stephens and drummer Byron Goggin, high school pals who'd played in bands together throughout their formative years (including Villanelle, which released an independent-label album titled Pinwheels and Orange Peels in 1996). In the spring of 1996, the lineup grew to include guitarist Kevin Breuner and bassist Miguel DeJesus; a year later, the Smalltown Poets signed to Chordant...
