This Album Made Me Blubber Like A Baby

Draconian's Turning Seasons Within made me blubber like a baby. It's so painful and heartbreakingly full of emotion. The lyrics tear someone apart and the eerie echoing sounds of the guitars and the other instruments seem to echo within one's soul. The vocals are beautiful and they are aching with emotion and plain raw dread. For example, Lisa's part in Season's Apart is just so atmospheric and mesmerizing... Earthbound is brutal, Not Breathing is heartbreaking, The Failure Epiphany is unique and epic, Morphine Cloud is just a plain doom filled heartbreaker, and Bloodflower tore me apart with its beauty and sadness. This is doom metal at its finest. The other Draconian albums are great with the same effect...but for some reason...Turning Seasons Within seems to bury itself under my skin the most.

Authentic doom metal

For fans of authentic doom metal... I love this cd and has allowed me to fall in love with doom metal all over again. Draconian keep things fresh with powerful rythm guitars, catchy riffs, haunting melodies, atmosphere, mood, beautiful harmonies, an amazing female singer, and male singer. Morphine Cloud sounds like an ode to My Dying Bride, and Draconian definitely has learned well from the masters, but take it to a new level with their female singer. This band is amazing in many different ways, and I only wish I could see them in the United States. I have hated the bombardment of everything new coming out, geared towards commercial sales and success. The originality, artistic creativity, and integrity of music has been lost. Thank goodness for bands like Draconian to carry the musical torch and run with it. I highly recommend any cd from this band, especially Turning Season Within.

Dark, Disturbing, Delightful

Everything about this album seems to capture the imagination and senses alike. It's a heavier album in comparison with The Burning Halo, but is nothing less than that or any other album, I highly recommend purchasing Turning Season Within.

Formed: 1994

Genre: Metal

Years Active: '00s

Originally a three-piece formed in Saffle, Sweden in the spring of 1994, Draconian -- at that time -- went by the name Kerberos, and was a metal band that fused touches of death metal, melodic metal, and a little bit of black metal to round out its sound. At the end of that first year, the band took on vocalist Anders Jacobsson, and with the new setup, changed its name to Draconian. The band's first demo, Shades of a Lost Moon, was released in 1996, and was the result of the group's initial round...
