Good gravy. Like seeing someone dig up your relatives and parade them around in new clothing. Absolutely atrocious. You cannot, cannot improve on perfection, and no other album brings this home harder than this travesty. Gone is the unique Lynne sound, the lush arrangements, the organic synth sounds. Utterly soulless. Run as fast and as far away as you can.

Mediocre bar-band versions of classic pop

Wow...Jeff Lynne writes terrifically catchy, hook-filled songs produced with a style that's immediately recognizable. So maybe that's why this "tribute" just fails terribly: For the most part, these version strip away everything that made the originals so good and deliver mediocre versions that wouldn't be out of place in a so-so bar band's repertoire. I've always respected Lynne's creative approach, and this collection just reminds me how unique he is among pop/rock artists. Not one of these comes close to the original versions or brings anything new or refreshing to the songs.

Lynne Me your Ears-

I'm a big J.Lynne and R.Wood fan -- Normally I would not like tributes/redux (such as the A-Teens messing around with ABBA's music ) but this album has a certain care about it to keep the Jeff Lynne sound intact. If you have never listened to ELO before- try some -- you will definately hear the Jeff Lynne influence/style. Funny thing, I was looking for Venus Hum music and found the cover version of "Xanadu" which lead me to this album ( Thanks Itunes). It's a good mix with some interesting people/bands performing. A really 'good buy' for the album price. I think you'll like it too.
