iTunes Review

The veteran German metal group Accept has been rejuvenated in recent years. New singer Mark Tornillo and drummer Stefan Schwarzmann make for a comfortable fit, having brought a new energy to 2010's Blood of the Nations and now to Stalingrad. The band's military focus adds to the band's aggressive attack and gives its music conceptual thrust. The tale of bloody battle "Hung, Drawn and Quartered" features the twin-guitar attack of Wolf Hoffman and Herman Frank re-creating the sounds of a world gone mad. "Hellfire" grinds out the power chords with all the authority necessary to make it a surefire anthem, with an extended solo patch for the guitars to again show who's boss. Things speed up for "Flash to Bang Time," while "Shadow Soldiers" captures the somber feeling of dusk before the band charges forward like it's Iron Maiden looking for a fight. All the elements of classic metal are here, and Stalingrad is a solid execution of power and style and as vital as Accept's work in the '80s.

One of my favorite childhood metal bands is on top of their game here! Solid performance by all musicians…especially the twin guitar attack! Long live Accept!!!

With their brutal, simple riffs and aggressive, fast tempos, Accept were one of the top metal bands of the early '80s, and a major influence on the development of thrash. Led by the unique vocal stylings of screeching banshee Udo Dirkschneider, the band forged an instantly recognizable sound and was notorious as one of the decade's fiercest live acts. Despite recording two of the best heavy metal albums of the decade in Restless & Wild and Balls to the Wall, Accept remained too heavy and extreme...
