I am totally obsessed with this album

Hauntingly beautiful even as it resurrects gritty southern rock minus all the flag-waving, south will rise again, quasi-racist baggage that tainted the genre in the hometown of my youth. This album belongs in the same pantheon as Abbey Road, Dark Side of the Moon, Some Girls.

album's darkness and depth is akin to that of born in the usa (cover me, downbound train) and everlast's songs of ungrateful living. righteous path, two daughters, and zone when combined with the other albums will provide an audio archeological record for life in 1986-2012. a great thing for music if not a great thing for America.
