iTunes Editors’ Notes

Dave Matthews is one of those performers who often reworks his material onstage. Fans have come to expect some radical transformations and this collection, recorded with long-time collaborator Tim Reynolds, does not disappoint. Recorded at Planet Hollywood’s Theater for the Performing Arts, Live In Las Vegas expands on songs from every aspect of his career. “Dancing Nancies” and “Typical Situation” from his major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming, come across beautifully in these smaller arrangements. Despite the absence of his full band, Matthews, with Reynolds’ help, capably fills the space with dazzling instrumentation that only misses the band’s rhythmic attack — and even that is willfully sacrificed for the intricate weaving acoustics of “Squirm.” (Many tracks are from Matthews’ last DMB album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.) The acoustic instrumental version of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” is admirable.

Customer Reviews

Wow! Dave & Tim do it once again!

What more can you say about Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds? Such a fantastic album. If only more artist were as real as him.
You can feel the energy from their shows; just by closing your eyes, and listening. I bet you can't find any other artists this day and age, that puts such raw emotion into their music. As Dave does. Every track they bring something new to the table. I've been a fan since 2004, I was only 12 when i discovered them. And His music changed my life.
Anyways, The audio quality is fantastic, the vocals are not muffled or distorted, and the guitars are just perfectly mastered.

Another Long-Overdue Release from two of the most purely talented musicians alive

At risk of sounding like "just another obsessive DMB fan"...I would like to say that I truly believe that Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds are two of the most purely talented musicians alive. Any song they perform is full of so much rhythm, soul, and melody that it is impossible not to be captivated. My only complaint is that they don't tour more with the acoustic sets: I love the full band but the quality of the songs is even more appreciable when it is stripped for the acoustic sets. Keep making incredible music!

First Review. Dave and Tim play on strong

Such an amazing blend of old and new tunes. Dave sounds incredibly solid vocally on all songs. Even the repeats from other acoustic releases such as Radio City and Luther College have a nice, fresh groove. Long live DMB! Long live Roi!

Formed in the early '90s by South African vocalist/guitarist Dave Matthews, the Dave Matthews Band presented a more pop-oriented version of the Grateful Dead crossed with elements of jazz, funk, and the worldbeat explorations of Paul Simon and Sting. Matthews populated the group with several Virginia-based musicians — bassist Stefan Lessard, saxophonist Leroi Moore, violinist Boyd Tinsley, drummer Carter Beauford, and, initially, keyboardist Peter Griesar — and the band built up a strong...
