Album Review

Elliott's debut full-length, U.S. Songs, came with a lot of hype in the independent music scene, as their previous single had garnered much positive press. Aggressive guitars storm out of the gates with the track "Miracle," and for the rest of the album, the band never lets up. For individuals wishing to understand indie rock music, Elliott is a worthy point of entry, containing the emotional heights and depths accompanied by the tight musicianship that is expected from a genre known for placing its heart on its sleeve. While U.S. Songs quickly catapulted Elliott to success in the independent market (and their constant touring didn't hurt, either), the sound on this 11-song disc seems safe in comparison with later releases. Containing energetic guitar progressions and striking percussion which showcase drummer Kevin Ratterman's consistent capability, Elliott may be pigeonholed by many as another drop in the bucket, but lead singer Chris Higdon's lyrics are sincere yet obscure, striking while still holding back — therein showing that Elliott may be more talented than they are given credit for. While the potential for more can be heard on U.S. Songs (and is fully realized on later works), this is by no means a disappointment.

Fire and Spirit

This was one of the first bands i ever saw in my boring town. I loved the enthusiasm and all around spirit these guys had. I say had becaouse they have broken up. Elliott is my favorite band for those times I need a boost. The way these guys play and give it their all no matter what! The tech side of the drums and electrnic melodies are what is a real big part of the bands appeal. Although the guitar work is amazing as well. It entrances you and takes you away to the musics story. US songs is an all out balls to the wall Indie Emo sound that will Echo through out time. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone and i do mean anyone!

Paints a Picture of travel

Elliott comes out swinging with their first full length after the ep If They Do which itunes doesn't care but I Insist you buy. Elliott's progression from that ep has been among the greatest in music. In the early stages they stand tall and rock out as hard as you can. Chris's powerful vocals soar on this album and make you point your fingure like the way it used to be before EMO became EMO. This album will speak to you and make you beg for more...but if its rocking out your looking for in thier other albums you might be disapointed. Your to busy appreciating the smooth tones and and delicious groves that follow this album. So sit back relax and pop this album in 1st, and follow their story. I promise it will be the ride of your life.

this cd is amazing

Higdon, bassist Jonathan Mobley, and drummer Ben Lord formed Elliott after the breakup of their previous band, Falling Forward. After releasing the In Transit EP with Initial Records in 1996, Kevin Ratterman replaced Lord and Empathy's Jay Palumbo came aboard. Elliott made its full-length debut with U.S. Songs on Revelation...
