Apollo Brown, Verbal Kent, Red Pill are UGLY HEROES
As the label, we love when Apollo sets off on a new project. This time around he wanted to do a blue collar, no frills record about the real lives of people in Detroit and Chicago. What's an Ugly Hero? It's the people who wake up and sacrifice vanity for family, making sure food is on the table and work is done. Dope album!
Incredible
I got a chance to hear this record early, and I love it. Apollo Brown gives has beats that bang, while Red Pill and Verbal Kent work perfectly off of each other with potent, honest, relatable rhymes. A lot of hip-hop glorifies the street life, but I think Red Pill and Verbal Kent are able to offer much more honest, insightful perspectives into poverty without straying into "white trash" territory and without embellishing their struggles into something they're not. The album is a slow burn, and it gets substantially better after every listen.
Always staying true to his heart
There is a producer from Detroit who has quietly made a name for himself worldwide, his name, Apollo Brown, Apollo never disappoints the listener, whether you are a fan of hip hop, or a fan of music, this dude makes music pleasing to the ear drum, and relaxing to the brain. When I heard about this project, it was much like 2 other CLASSIC albums, Apollo and OC's-Tropies and Apollo and Guilty Simpson-Dice Game, my anticipation was overwhelming. I can say it, without a doubt, I was not disappointed. I think Apollo with his new team Verbal Kent and Red Pill will be making appearances on some distinguised top 10 lists...
