iTunes Review

Like the mythic character referenced in its title, Ulysses roams far with an adventuresome spirit. Current Swell use their fifth album to explore stomping folk (the title tune), dreamy stoner balladry (“Who’s with Us”), and raucous garage rock (“Sideways”) while capturing a stubborn honesty in their lyrics. Band leaders Scott Stanton and David Lang keep the sound rough-edged as they tear into the country-style blues of “Rollin’” and dip into the psychedelia of “Man of Maps.” Crunchy as a gravel road and tender as a fresh bruise, Ulysses is a very satisfying effort from the British Columbia combo.

good job again

current swell has been part of my life, and since the first album they've never disappointed me. this album reflects the spirit of the band. it's awesome!

Best band I've never heard of

This album - and frankly everything I've heard from this so called Current Swell is absolutely outstanding. Barred by no genre but masterfully dipping their toes in ponds across blues, rock, pop, psychedelia, bluegrass and more, this is very satisfying music with a soul and a purpose. I'm so excited to have found them and can't consume their music fast enough. Cheers gents, great job.
