Former first call session singer Kathy Kosins enters her third decade as a recording artist with UNCOVERED SOUL, a fascinating concept album driven by the sounds of the musical landscape of her hometown of Detroit in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Working with producer Kamau Kenyatta, who won a Grammy for his work with Gregory Porter, the sultry-voiced Kosins mines deep emotional territory as she shares rarely heard tunes by songwriting legends Curtis Mayfield, Gene McDaniels, Bill Withers, The Neville Brothers, Burt Bacharach and contemporary great Amos Lee. There are also three original songs that carry on the great R&B legacy of that time.

About Kathy Kosins

Born in Detroit, Kathy Kosins works Motown and pop influences into her jazz singing. She began backing Was (Not Was), Michael Henderson, J.C. Heard's Orchestra and the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. During the '80s, she wrote R&B-based songs with producers Rick Chudikoff, Jeff Pesetto, Peter Benetta and Nick Martinelli. However, her debut album, All in a Dream's Work, is predominantly swing-era jazz singing. ~ John Bush
