The Comeback Album

The great 'Hands Clean' stated perfectly that with this CD Alanis was back. During this recording session came some of the most universal songs of her career, proving so many points from many different view. The only problem is most of those songs were b sides later to be released in the U.S. on 'Feast on Scraps' such as 'Fear of Bliss', 'Simple Together',. The 2 best songs from this recording session not found on 'Feast On Scraps' are 'Awaken Americans' & 'Symptoms' (found on the American version of the 'Hands Clean' single). The 11 song collection here IS awesome though. Other great songs are 'So Unsexy', 'Precious Illusion' 'You Owe Me Nothing In Return' & 'Utopia'. This CD may take a few listens to get everything possible out of it, the first 2 songs aren't the greatest, but don't let them discourage you from buying.

Under Rug Swept

This is my second favorite Alanis album, 'Flavors of Entanglement' being my favorite. Her voice and her self in general has matured which makes for a better experience, in my personal opinion. Here is my review track by track...

1. 21 Things I Want In A Lover - A fun and edgy beginner. Good song. 9.5/10
2. Narcissus - A fun song about a narcissus flame. Comical. 9.5/10
3. Hands Clean - A song about her relationship with an older man. Good song. 10/10
4. Flinch - An emotionally raw song. Good. 8.5/10
5. So Unsexy - Good catchy song. 8/10
6. Precious Illusions - Quite possibly my favorite Alanis song. It's fun, easy to sing to, easy to remember, and just plain great! 20/10
7. That Particular Time- Another raw and emotional song. This one is better. Great song. 10/10
8. A Man - My least fav on the album but still unique and fun. 7/10
9. You Owe Me Nothing In Return - Catchy and great! Love this song. 10/10
10. Surrender - A bubbly feel good song with a good beat! Love it. 10/10
11. Utopia - A great album ender. Love this song. 10/10

Singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette became one of the most unlikely stars of the 1990s on the strength of her third album, Jagged Little Pill. A former child actress turned dance-pop diva, Morissette transformed herself into a confessional alternative singer/songwriter in the vein of Liz Phair and Tori Amos. However, she bolstered that formula with enough pop sensibility, slight hip-hop flourishes, and marketing savvy to become a superstar. Jagged Little Pill, released in 1995, spun off six highly...
