Definitely the album of 2009

Epica surpasses ALL expectations with Design your Universe. Those of you who are not familiar with Epica, this would be a great start. The Choir is more epic, the symphony is louder, and in this album, Epica includes what their past albums did not: Guitar Solos. Mere words can't describe their best, and perhaps the #1 of 2009 in Symphonic Metal!

they just keep going! can this be the best band... ever? it's all here: unmitigated musical power; stunning lyrical sophistication; impossible, heart-wrenching beauty. it is difficult to believe that their last effort "The Divine Conspiracy" could be surpassed; yet, Epica seems to have done just that with "Design Your Universe". all lovers of incredible music must own this album, as well as everything else that has come from the minds of these six fantastic artists!

Album of the Year? Perhaps

With "The Divine Conspiracy," Epica raised the bar to what some thought were unachievable levels. They have done it again with "Design Your Universe."

The first album with their new lead guitarist Issac Delahye, this album is easily Epica's greatest work. The new guitar sound brings a fresh new feel to Epica's work, while feeling like classic Epica through and through.

This album should be up for Album of the Year. This is hands-down Epica's greatest work.

The only complaint? Can their next album possibly be as good as this? Time will tell!

After drafting teenaged mezzo-soprano Simone Simons, guitarist Ad Sluijter, keyboardist Coen Janssen, bassist Yves Huts, and drummer Jeroen Simons, Epica entered Wolfsburg, Germany's Gate Studio with a classically trained choir and string section to lay down their ambitious...
