Outstanding Debut Album

Arden Kaywin's debut album, Quarter Life Crisis, is one to definitely take note of. This is the kind of music that I have been waiting for. It's pop in the best sense of the word with original music and lyrics that I can connect to. Kaywin's voice is like expensive crystal and is showcased by superb arrangements and a highly professional production. "Over You" is my favorite because of its simplicity, yet soulfulness that went right to my heart. Each of her other songs is unique and demonstrate her talent as a singer/sonwriter. The upbeat "Homeland" was impossible to get out of my head for days after listening to it. The lyrics in "Me with Me" have an honesty and depth that anyone having their own quarter life crisis could identify with. Kaywin has the whole package; voice, lyrics, music and I can't wait to hear more.

Brava diva!

This is a great first album from a wonderful and beautiful rising star. She has a great knack for meaningful lyrics and memorable music as well as a sweet voice. Her songs are easy to listen to on any given day. I can't wait to see what the future holds for her. Way to go, Arden, I had no idea you were so talented as a song writer. You have definitely found a place you can call your own now. It was great to see you tonight. I hope this is one of many times we will bump into each other. -Mike Lee

When Will It Happen...

As a self-proclaimed music snob, I am rarely impressed with debut albums, much less second and third albums from most indie artists. They are often amalgamations of existing sounds or in some cases exact copies. So, for me to take notice, let alone be impressed with a debut album from an indie pop artist is something of a rarity. But then again, so is Arden Kaywin. Arden Kaywin's debut album is exactly the recipe a Pop album calls for. Accesible and intelligent musings on life and love, catchy hooks (and not of the Nate Dogg variety), good rythmns, strong lyrical content, and just long enough to leave me wanting more. It doesn't hurt that she is easy on the eyes as well. Album standouts include "On The Edge", "Me With Me", and "As Long As You Love Me". I recently had the good fortune to catch her show at LA's Viper Room where she wowed the crowd with her cover of The Killer's "Mr. Brightside". While it doesn't appear on the album, it should definately remain a staple of her live shows. If the momentum continues for Arden, then her third song title seems to be the most apropos. When will it happen? Keep making albums like this, and I imagine quicker than you think.
