She

One of the most horrendously underrated acts of the 90's. Tonya and band were so very talented. If you knew her voice from the seminal art rock band Throwing Muses, you knew that she was a true songstress and an original voice! Her ideas are remarkable and the stories her songs tell are so very creative and stark. This album casts a spell literally. It's 2011 and the songs remain in my head ! Catch the hooks and ride the waves…this album is beyond brilliant.

Ultra-STAR-ness!

I am more of a alternative noise rock sort of guy but you know every know and then it is time to put the grunge down and chill and listen to some folkish type stuff. Even Kurt did 'About a Girl', dude.

Belly totally fits that role. Like you know how baby boomer hippies had joan baez, well luckily we in Generation X, during the few years of the 1990s when we actually had some influence in the media before Kurt died, were able to get Tanya Donnelly some air-time, and thank goodness for that. This is a great altnerna-folkish album.

It is too bad that Belly never followed up with anything as good, but one should just be thankful to get an album that is this good ya' know.

Feed the Tree

I really love the song feed the tree. The sound of the album is pretty consistent.

With Belly, Donelly expanded her dreamy pop hooks into more concise, catchy songs, as well as harder-edged rock. The band's 1993 debut, Star, became one of the first beneficiaries of the commercialization of alternative rock; it rode to gold status within its first year of release, as "Feed the Tree" made headway on mainstream...
