After In Waves, I thought ,This is it. They finally figured out their sound. However, hearing this album completely crushed my good opinions that I had for them. No, I'm not whining because there are no screams or whatever. What I'm saying is that this album doesn't sound like Trivium at all. Trivium's real sound for me is the mix Ascendancy and Shogun with a little bit of The Crusade. It took a while for them to figure it out but they achieved a sound with these elements in In Waves. It's true that bands have to evolve and tweak their sounds but if you take a look at their previous albums, they all sound unique and different in their own way. Like a search for a musical identity. I thought this search ended in In Waves and though that they are finally going to make albums that are consistent with each other. Consistency doesn't mean sounding the same. Having Draiman as the producer is a huge logical error since the Trivium is a band with huge sound range with complex riffs and rich melodies. Draiman's work so far is no where near what Trivium has produced. And unfortunately, his influence is all over this album. You can even hear him in back vocals in some songs. Anyways, at the end of the day there is only one truth and that is, this album divided Trivium fans. The very existence of this discussion is a proof to this.

Another band selling out

Seems everyone is toning down their sound to appeal to the tween and young teenage girls in the audience. Yet another band, bought and sold by the big record industry. God forbid you have some screaming in your vocals anymore!

Just by listening to two songs from this album my hopes are very high for them to deliver again. Needless to say I'm very excited for this album. The intro to Strife is amazazing.
