Angelo Badalamenti made his big breakthrough when he teamed up with film director David Lynch for Blue Velvet. He went on to score several important Lynch films, including Wild At Heart, Lost Highway and the TV show Twin Peaks. While Badalamenti has also worked with Marianne Faithfull and James singer Tim Booth as Booth and the Bad Angel, this collection focuses on his film and TV music. Faithfull’s collaboration here is the wistful “Who Will Take My Dreams Away” that breaks the album down the middle. But the emphasis is on that uneasy calm that Badalamenti brought to his orchestrations. “Twin Peaks: Laura Palmer’s Theme / Main Title Theme” is deliciously dark. “The City of Lost Children” is given six minutes to slowly unwind its spell. “Suite from Inside the Actors Studio” is expanded to a full nine minutes. “Mulholland Drive” and the “Torch Theme” for the Barcelona Sumer Olympics show his versatility and just how prevalent his musical ideas have become to the mainstream.
Angelo Badalamenti - Music For Film And Television : Press Sheet
Angelo Badalamenti is the composer of some of the most beautiful and evocative film music of recent times. Most famous for his haunting and hypnotic music for such David Lynch productions as Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive, Badalamenti’s soundtracks have been best-sellers. The composer’s theme and music for Bravo TV’s Inside The Actors Studio has similarly become iconic.
A special tribute concert was performed to honor Angelo Badalamenti at the 2009 Ghent International Film Festival and, in separate recording sessions, the concert program was recorded with conductor Dirk Brossé.
Over 70 minutes of Badalamenti’s music is presented here:
Blue Velvet • Twin Peaks • Inside The Actors Studio • Mulholland Drive • A Very Long Engagement
The collection also includes a couple of very special pieces. The entrancing song Who Will Take My Dreams Away was co-written with singer Marianne Faithful, who sings on this recording. Badalamenti also composed the music for the lighting of the Olympic torch at the Barcelona 1992 Summer Olympic Games and this rarity also appears here.
Angelo Badalamenti: Music For Film and Television is an outstanding collection of the composer’s best work.

Haunting and Beautiful
Angelo gives the right 'minor' to the 'major': he expresses beautifully sad parts of the music with the joyful ones. A composer cannot express this so exquisitely as Angelo Badalamenti. Isn't that what life itself is, what we experience in our own lives? Beautifully sad moments that accentuate and complement the happier ones? His music reaches deep, sometimes dark, into our very souls, where few composers dare to go.
