iTunes Review

2015’s Vestiges & Claws is Jose Gonzalez’s first self-production and his first to feature all original material. Sessions took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, in his home kitchen and at Svenska Grammofonstudion. Songs are presented in acoustic settings that expand into surprisingly ambitious arrangements with layers of backing and harmony vocals and subtle percussion tracks. The opening songs, “With the Ink of a Ghost” and “Let It Carry You,” indicate how the album will proceed. The gentle stringed accompaniment of “The Forest” and the harmonies and whistling featured on “Open Book” demonstrate the great care that Gonzalez has put into this deceptively subdued album.

Customer Reviews

José's music is absolutely amazing. His voice always sounds so close, but distant at the same time. It's hard to explain. You have to listen to understand.

Impossible to decribe

Jose has one of the most unique styles I've ever heard. A haunting voice, a gentle tone, a surreal melody. To me he is the diamond in the rough and whoever is lucky enough to find him knows this. This album is no different.

Close your eyes and enjoy. Take a journey, and realize that you have found one of the few artists who reach the soul.

Agreed, Indescribable

Great music for a traveler. José has always made great music. This could possibly be his best.

González officially launched his solo career with the release of 2003's Veneer, an entirely acoustic affair...
