Victory Laps - EP

Ghostface and MF DOOM have many things in common. They both rock Marvel Comics alter egos (Iron Man and Doctor Doom), they both have lengthy hip-hop pedigrees (Wu-Tang and K.M.D.), and they both have a knack for wordy, semi-abstract lyricism laid over soulful, sample-centric beats. Rumors of a collaborative album have flown for many years now, since they've worked together in the past ("Chinatown Wars" off Grand Theft Auto, "Angelz" from Born Like This, "The Mask" off The Mouse and the Mask, and DOOM's beats for Fishscale and More Fish). On Victory Laps, we get six versions of two tracks: the original, loaded with chunky drums and heavy organ riffs, and a remix, where they get busy over a wildly funky piano and guitar loop (which will probably sound familiar to Blackalicious fans). Both songs are dope, and their unique voices compliment one another perfectly: DOOM coming with the husky low end and Ghost sporting his signature high-pitched frantic flow. After years of chatter some fans were starting to get skeptical, but this is well worth the wait.
