Album Review

On Perspectiva, Gilberto Santa Rosa continues the level of excellence that made Punto de Vista a success: romantic (not erotic) salsa done to a swinging turn. Omar Alfanno's "Conciencia" is one of his most adroit compositions. A must-have for Santa Rosa's fans. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr., Rovi

Salsa With Elegance

I'm from Puerto Rico and everyone who loves music in our island will agree that Gilberto Santa Rosa is one of our best salsa ambasadors. There is vast musical talent down here and this album is a great representation of just that. Conciencia and Amor Mio No Te Vayas are my favorites. If you like salsa you should have this in your Ipod.

Brings back old memories...

My mom had this album when i was really young, almost 6, and i LOVED IT. i thought it had great lyrics and made your feet move without you knowing. I was born in Bogota, Colombia and i grew up with this music as well as Mercedes Sosa, Silvio Rodriguez, and alot of great artist from my mom's time. I enjoyed always listening to it. But my favorite salsa album of all time would have to be Siembra by Ruben Blades and Willie Colon. If you haven't heard it please do you'll fall in love with it. I give it 5 stars not only beacause its a great album all the way through, but because it brought alot of lost memories and feelings. This is a sure purchase for any latin music lover like me. ;)

Gilberto Santa Rosa is one of the most esteemed, and certainly one of the most tradition-minded, soneros to rise to fame in the 1980s, and his popularity and acclaim only increased in subsequent decades, as did his stateliness. His style of salsa isn't easily categorized, for he often changes approach from one album to the next. His straight-ahead, dance-oriented albums (e.g., Perspectiva [1991], Auténtico [2004]) as well as his eclectic ones (Esencia [1996], Expresión [1999]) tend to be his most...
