EDITORS’ NOTES

A sparkling—and fitting—tribute to a band of rare promise. On 13 February 2016, Viola Beach—Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, and Jack Dakin—and their manager Craig Tarry died after a car accident in Södertälje, Sweden. This eponymous debut will forever act as a celebration of their quicksilver, sun-soaked indie. “Swings and Waterslides” and “Go Outside” are the sound of a thousand hedonistic summer days, while “Boys That Sing”’s infectious guitars now take on affecting poignancy.
