Album Review

One of the legendary thrash bands of the '80s, Kreator is back in fine fashion with Violent Revolution. So strong is the album that it not only reclaims their previous glory, but even sets about to show a bit of one-upmanship on it. The album utilizes much of Kreator's earlier musical leanings while moving the group forward into a new age. In fact, in many ways it seems as if Kreator has taken lessons from recent releases that, while experimenting with new styles, left the band's old ways somewhat forgotten. By combining those experimental ideas with the old character, Kreator has basically reinvented itself. What you have is something that should please all of Kreator's old-time fans who may have felt a bit disenfranchised by the band's later works, while still creating a fresh sound.

Good Solid return to form

Violent Revolution is Kreator's first Thrash Metal revival album. It is Kreator's first album to take a more Melodic Death Metal path, and has longer songs than normal for Kreator works more to the detriment of this album than to it's advantage since Kreator is usually better at shorter songs. It is in my opinion their weakest Thrash Metal album it just has more filler and weak moments than any other Kreator album besides their experimental period albums. Best songs are Reconquering the Throne a good thrasher, Violent Revolution, All of the Same Blood, and Replicas of Life other standouts are Second Awakening, and System Decay. Overall a Solid release but not up to Kreator's usually high Thrash standards. Recommended for fans of Kreator and Melo-Death/Thrash fans.

Get this you thrashers

This album is just great. the rythme is great. the vocals and lyrics are great. violent revolution is a must have for those who love the thrash genre. Kreator is one of the best thrash bands to exist

Kreator is back

Mille is back, and so is Jurgen! Two of Kreator's founders are back with a vengeance to create this masterpiece of an album. My first kreator song was on this album. I suggest you get Violent Revolution if you are a person new to Kreator and what to get into it. Not the best solos ever but it's a good start.

Formed: 1984 in Essen, Germany

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Arguably the most influential and successful European thrash metal band ever, Germany's Kreator are also by far the most enduring. Like many of their European speed metal brethren, Kreator fused Metallica's thrash innovations with Venom's proto-black metal imagery, sparked it with Motörhead's balls-out velocity, and capped it off with the nihilistic outlook typical of heavy metal since the seminal days of Black Sabbath. Kreator's career also mirrored speed metal's rising and waning fortunes: building...
