One of my favorites

Emma brilliantly crafts melodies around themes of creation, feminine roles of past and present, and prophecies of future times in a way that keeps full on listeners engaged. While the wordiness of the writing style can be difficult to take on for casual listeners, those who appreciate an album of engaging, (somewhat) philosophical themes will likely love it. In a way, I like to think of this as a writers' album. The metaphors involved are truly brilliant. Her smooth voice gracefully jumps from note to note in melodies that are fresh. It's difficult to compare her to anyone, and I like that.

Some songs, like Paper Forest, Iris, and Cassandra are instantly likeable. Others, like Exit Night and North take a few listens to grasp. Eventually though, I've found them frequenting my head, and I hope they never leave too long.

Besides, who doesn't love a song based on the prophet Cassandra?

So refreshing and different!

I'm thinking these are some of the most unique songs I've ever heard, unique in a good way of course. Although not "catchy" in the way most people would think of the term, these songs do have good beats AND amazing story lines if you take the time to actually listen. Emmy has a very crisp and well-defined sound to her voice which also helps :)

She is her own person when it comes to her music. I love it!
