HILARIOUS NEW CD!
PHASER ROCK: ALL FIRED UP!
A certain starship helmsman has recorded an album of
rock song covers---but watch out when he sings the word "Fire!"
Sci-Fi fans around the universe will love these unbelievably
funny, farcical, and phaser-filled songs, brought to you by
the creators of "The Star Wars Cantina" Comedy Parody
Song and Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine.
Tell every geek, nerd, and trekkie you know!
I'm All Fired Up for "All Fired Up"!
(The following is a rewritten combination of my original iTunes review and my MySpace blog review, so bear with me!)
2008/10/17 - I first bought this album on iTunes in 2006 when it was released as LIEUTENANT SOLO's "THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE!" Then, inexplicably, it disappeared, so I was probably one of the few people in the world with a copy. I then wondered if lucite collector's cases were available for MP3s.
I am very glad to see that it's available again. This is the stupidest - and yet, FUNNIEST - album I've heard in quite some time. You need not be a Trekkie to truly appreciate this collection, but it wouldn't hurt. Without giving away too much, celebrity impersonator Mark Jonathan Davis (a.k.a "Richard Cheese") portrays Star Trek's Lt. Sulu as if he were performing dramatic readings of popular tunes, such as "Ring of Fire," "Viva Las Vegas," and "Beat It." Placing special emphasis on the word "fire" every time it appears in the lyrics makes this worthy of your hard-earned cash. I just wish I knew why this new version doesn't include The Doors' "Light My Fire," like on the original release. Maybe I have a collector's item after all?
I give this album five stars and two carbon-based thumbs up. Let's all hope that George Takei relishes it as much as I. FIRE!
